Chef Katie

I was once told that I am like an Ivy tree - not just an Ivy plant, but a tree, strong with a sturdy base that sends out it’s vining leaves, interested and searching, but always rooted. That imagery has stuck with me ever since hearing it that day. As I’ve grown through life, this feels more and more pertinent to my essence.

My connection to food and nature started in my dad's vegetable garden, and it's been a guiding force ever since. From working on organic farms and at farmers' markets to cooking in restaurants and co-ops, I've developed a deep appreciation for the entire journey of food, from soil to table.

This winding path eventually led me to a passion for women’s health, inspired by my parents, once both nurses. I've spent years diving into fertility awareness, nutrition, and herbal medicine, completing apprenticeships and internships to deepen my knowledge. Plants and their healing powers are a fundamental part of who I am.

In the kitchen, my curiosity transformed into a creative passion. After working my way up to Sous Chef at a local foods restaurant in Madison, I found my true calling in nourishing others through food.

In 2024, I started working as a Personal Chef and completed a full-spectrum doula course with BADT (Birthing Advocacy Doula Training). And now in 2025, Kin Kitchen has been created over time, an idea that has been cultivating its way to fruition - a blending of my knowledge base and experience.

I hold a deep love for helping others, and those transitioning into motherhood are no exception. I am so excited to be able to help you on your pregnancy and/or postpartum journey. As the path continues to wind for us all, I’d love to hand you that warm cup of tea and a hot meal.

Warmly,

Katie Ankowicz
